POEM OF THE MONTH
Martin Luther King Jr.
~ By Eileen Spinelli

He had a dream
He understood
The sturdy grace
Of brotherhood.

He had a dream
That simple joy
Would gently bless
Each girl and boy.

He shared his dream.
His wise words shone:
“Join hands.”
“We cannot walk alone.”

He had a dream
All hearts can sing:
“This is our hope…..
Let freedom ring.”

The Foundation
We will be focusing on the five components of teaching all children effectively. Our focus this month is on developing our Social Emotional Skills by using our words more and finding positive ways to express ourselves. For infants and toddlers, we will be looking at developmental milestones.
Interest Areas (centers) We will focus on the 10 classroom interest areas and the outdoors, suggesting appropriate materials and presenting teachers with ways to promote children's development and learning in each of those areas.

Language and Literacy
We will continue to use research-based strategies for supporting early literacy learning, and incorporate language and literacy learning into everyday classroom experiences.

Mathematics
We will continue to use math in fun and creative ways. Try counting the number of lights it takes to reach Happy Home in the morning. (Preschool) Infants and toddlers will be using strategies for promoting mathematics learning throughout the day by counting our crackers and vegetables.

Nursery Rhymes and using Rhythm
We will be learning new and repeating old nursery rhymes.
